DAYS OF FLOWERING
The events series of Days of Flowering organised by the Öri Foundation started in 1994. This four-day-festival of arts and meeting of people takes place since then every year at Whitsun in different Őrség locations. Performance evenings, theatrical and film premieres, exhibitions, lectures on humanities, arts history, pedagogy, ecology and musical events make the festival programs even more colourful. The character of the festival and its charm has remained the same from the very beginning: an intimate program requiring intensive spiritual presence which attracts exacting visitors from the whole country and also from abroad. Beyond the economical benefit brought to the region: the mission of the Days of Flowering is to get all value-creating branches of the culture to this disadvantaged region.

ŐRSÉG FAIR
During this event series of three days we are trying to give a taste of everything: sports events, cultural programs, theatre, concerts, exhibitions of fine arts . We are trying to get all important public buildings and their managers to join and help us with the organisational work: in the offices of the local government, the Centre of Community Arts, the school, church or the beer-booth. Not to speak about the valuable products of several local craftsmen and others coming from all parts of the country and even abroad (Transsylvania) offered in the fair street. During these days approximately 10.000 people come to and explore the Őrség region.

July 11th-13th 2008 INTERNATIONAL DAYS OF POTTERY
There has been a wake held on the second weekend of the year in Magyarszombatfa, in the part of the settlement called Gödörháza since 1967. Because of the changes of the coming years and depopulation of the villages this festival has completely lost its importance. To compensate for this in 1998 we have initiated the presentation of pottery products and a demonstration of how to prepare crockery.
On the second weekend of June we have organised a three-day-international pottery festival with participants from Hungary and Slovenia. The festival program included a fair of the pottery products all three days, exhibition of the best products, a demonstration and contest of preparing crockery, several cultural, sport and entertaining programs. At the event we had participants from Serbia, Burgenland and Romania as well.

FAIR AT THE VIADUCT
This fair was organised in 2001 for the first time. The owner of the idea, the main organiser and responsible for the arrangement ever since is the mayor of the village, a very active lady with excellent social relations. The fairs used to have big importance as local people only had this one day to buy all the industrial articles they needed locally: for example rope, clothes, kitchen utensils, tools and the inevitable fairground souvenirs like honey-cake or cone-shaped candy, a rare and memorable surprise for the children. The new fairs are intended to be like the old ones thats why it is only allowed to sell products of the folk art. It is also important to present the local values by means of organising programs to present local values.
Every 5 years a special event shall take place: emigrants from the village shall be recalled. This is a great opportunity for friends, former school-mates, family members to see each other again after years.
Perhaps the most important feature of this event is that it does not cost a lot of money but
the union of all people
involved.

COLOURFUL COUNTRY festival of sporadic settlements and farm houses
A more recent festival which has however soon gained popularity and become well-known. This is a longer and more extensive, 10-day-event in the second half of August. As it is reflected in the name, those, who are hanging around in the region in those summer days with a spirit of adventure and exploring mind will enter a fantasy land. Since its founding in 2002 this occasional country consists of villages, sporadic settlements, meadows and farm houses with open doors which have joined the festival. There are a lot of musical, theatrical, literary programs and film performances taking place during those 10 days.
Besides, visiting is a key feature of this festival. Guests are welcome to the old village farm houses during visiting hours, shops of craftsmen and artists ateliers throw their doors open to the visitors. A good opportunity for them not just to try local tastes and look around in the surroundings but also to have a good conversation. For one or another event the festival also crosses the borders to Slovenia and Austria.

ŐRSÉG INTERNATIONAL
COOKING CONTEST OF
HUNGARIAN WILD STEW
Visitors who are interested in the gastronomy of the region can try local tastes during this pioneer contest in the beer booth beside Restaurant Bognár where additionally to the wild also local and bio-dishes will be offered.

11th-12th Sept. 2008 NATURALLY ŐRSÉG
This event was launched in 2001 and organised for 3 consecutive years by the Őrség Naturpark Kht. Today this work is taken over by the Őri Foundation and it is them to host the Naturally Őrség bio-weekend: as a kind of an autumn summary about the summer exhibitors displaying the regions interesting and valuable products gather here. During the weekend old instruments will be presented and a lot of special Őrség issuescan be experienced, tasted, tried: like bread made of spelt, buckwheat-mush, old Őrség sorts of fruits, how to make jam, folk cures and natural healing, alternative car of the future, stuck houses and several others.
Centre of the festivals Days of Blooming,Colourful Country and Naturally Őrség is the Telehouse in Őriszentpéter which used to be a steam-mill and the neighbouring buildings.

ŐRSÉG PUMPKIN FESTIVAL
This event places the pumpkin as the characteristic Őrség product in the centre. Programs for adults and children, quiz programs, cultural shows/programs, exhibition of giant pumpkins and theatrical plays are hosted by the Őrség National Park Folk games, children programs and artistical shows provide the opportunity to get acquainted with the local pumpkin cult. The funny games (pumpkin-pushing contest) are open to all age-groups. The culinary programs are led by a chef but also housewives fight it out with their dishes made of pumpkin. The pumpkin-growers will be given useful information at the Business Forum.
The crafts fair during the day offers our visitors typical products of this region. One of the highlights of the day will definately be the election of the Pumpkin King 2007. In the neighbouring village of Szalafő pumpkin-seed-squeezing will be presented and guests are awaited to the Pumpkin-kitchen.
